My Stuck-In-The-City Happy Place

After growing up in the country and falling in love with the forest, it is excruciatingly difficult for me to live in the city. There are days where I don’t think I can take it a single moment longer. Luckily for me I found a haven called Fenner Nature Center.

It’s hard to believe that Fenner exists within the city, but it does. It only has about four miles worth of trails but the area is wooded. Along with the trials, there is also a butterfly garden, a bird feeder area which is always active, an herb garden, a few ponds and an observation deck.

To further the disbelief of the existence of this place and even with how small it is, you’re bound to see some sort of wildlife every time you visit. Sometimes I see snakes along the trails, sometimes deer, sometimes wild turkeys and always birds.

My recent trip was brought by a need to get out of the city but the inability to do so. Most of the trails still had thin snow on them, making it somewhat difficult to hike but completely possible.
